ENHANCED COMPETITIVENESS OF TAJIK AGRIBUSINESS PROJECT

European Union (EU) has initiated and finances the Enhanced Competitiveness of Tajik Agribusiness Project (ECTAP) in close cooperation with European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The European Union and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) have launched EUR 47.6 million (~ USD 50 million) ECTAP to contribute to poverty reduction and economic growth through the enhancement of Tajik agri-food value-chains, agro-food enterprises and the quality and marketing of Tajik agricultural products.

Project Objectives:

 

ECTAP’s overall objective is to contribute to poverty reduction and economic growth in Tajikistan through the enhancement of Tajik agri-food value-chains, agro-food enterprises and the quality and marketing of Tajik agricultural products. Specific project goals include:

 

• Providing credits for farmers and individual persons;

• Providing credits for processing enterprises of agricultural products.

• Provide grants to potential customers.

 

The first objective of the project is to provide loans to farmers to purchase agricultural equipment and machinery, testing equipment and devices for processing enterprises of  food products.

 

Lending terms:

Credit amount:

• up to 250 000 TJS  for individuals;

• up to 500 000 TJS  for legal entities;

 

Credit terms:

• from 12 to 60 months;

 

Granting of a grace period for loan repayment;

Interest rate: 32% per annum

In case of targeted use of the loan, 20% of the loan funds are offered as a grant to the client by the European Union.
